Honored and delighted to make the presentation “The Quest for Hebrew (Wood) Type” at the 500 Years of Yiddish Printing Symposium at the University of Oxford, Oxford, UK recently. I presented my self-published letterpress-printed book, “A Collection of Yiddish Words, volume 1,” from 2025 and discussed some of the options/challenges I faced to access authentic Hebrew wood type to print with, and how ultimately I used type from the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Mass. to complete the project (see several previous posts). The symposium was attended by scholars and participants from ten countries including: Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Poland, Ukraine, UK & USA.
